While the major leagues were on strike, several major league teams decided to carry broadcasts of the AAA farm teams. The Salt Lake Gulls of the Pacific Coast League affiliate of the California Angels at the time, and for their lone trip to Edmonton, they were accompanied by their own broadcaster--future Angels' broadcaster Rory Markas--and the Angels' crew of Bob Starr and Don Drysdale. I was playing tapes of the national anthems and trumpet blasts for the Edmonton Trappers in their initial season, and Messrs. Starr and Drysdale occupied the space usually reserved for the visiting broadcaster, with Mr. Markas sitting next to me. Mr. Drysdale was a fine gentleman, and kindly autographed a few items for me.
