Don Clark rushed 20 times for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns and George Dixon carried 18 times for 111 yards and a touchdown as the Alouettes routed the Argonauts before 22,933 fans at Molson Stadium to clinch the third and last playoff spot in the Eastern Football Conference. Montreal quarterback Sandy Stephens, playing probably the best game of his CFL career, threw a touchdown pass to Marv Luster. Bobby-Jack Oliver, who opened the scoring with a 32-yard field goal, added 4 converts and a single. Gerry Philp scored the Argonauts' touchdown in the 1st quarter on a 28-yard pass from halfback Dick Shatto. Toronto quarterback Tobin Rote, playing his final CFL game, completed just 8 of 24 passes for 118 yards.

Tommy-Joe Coffey scored a touchdown, 2 converts, and a field goal to win the Western Football Conference scoring title as the Eskimos defeated the Blue Bombers at Winnipeg Stadium on a Saturday night when winds reached 42 miles per hour. Mr. Coffey edged Winnipeg's Gerry James for the scoring lead; Mr. James scored a touchdown, but missed the convert attempt on that and on the other Blue Bomber touchdown by Roger Hagberg. Mr. Coffey's touchdown came on a 7-yard pass from Jackie Parker, who was playing the final game as an Eskimo after a brilliant nine-year career. Defensive end Nat Dye scored the other Edmonton touchdown on a 60-yard fumble return. For Nat's brother Pat, it was the final game of his two-year career as an Eskimo linebacker. In fact, this came can be regarded as the final game for the Eskimo team that had been a champion or contender for the previous dozen years. Mr. Parker was traded to the Toronto Argonauts three months later, and other players retired or moved on.

Joe Kapp passed for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns each to Willie Fleming and Sonny Homer as the Lions beat the Roughriders in a downpour before 20,498 fans at Empire Stadium in Vancouver. Mel Melin, playing one of his few CFL games, added a convert and field goal, and relieved Mr. Kapp at quarterback in the 4th quarter. Newcomer Walt Mince scored the only Saskatchewan touchdown in the 1st quarter on a 44-yard pass from quarterback Bob Ptacek.
