Dick Shatto rushed 1 yard for his second touchdown of the game and Bill Mitchell converted with 10 seconds remaining in the game to give the Argonauts their win before 20,892 fans at CNE Stadium and keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Rough Riders appeared to be in control, but Ottawa running back Ron Stewart fumbled at his own 40-yard line with 1:35 remaining, and Toronto defensive back Jim Rountree recovered. Mr. Shatto's first touchdown came in the 2nd quarter on a 28-yard pass from Tobin Rote. Mr. Mitchell converted that TD and added 2 field goals. Dave Mann punted for an 86-yard single in the 1st quarter, after the Argonauts had opened the scoring with a safety touch when Ottawa punt returner Len Chandler's lateral went awry, and teammate Whit Tucker recovered in his own end zone to prevent a Toronto touchdown. Mr. Tucker returned an interception 25 yards for the first Ottawa touchdown in the 2nd quarter. Quarterback Russ Jackson rushed 17 yards for a Rough Rider TD in the 3rd quarter, and defensive back Dick Cohee returned a fumble 7 yards for the other Ottawa touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Rick Cassata connected with Hugh Oldham for touchdown passes of 60 and 50 yards in the last 3½ minutes of the game as the Rough Riders defeated the Argonauts before a capacity crowd of 33,135 at CNE Stadium. The final touchdown came when Mr. Oldham made a great catch, was hit low by Toronto defensive back Jimmy Dye, flipped and landed on his feet and one hand, regained his footing when hit by Toronto defensive back Dick Thornton, and went to the end zone on a play that head coach Jack Gotta said was the greatest he'd ever seen. Ottawa kicker Gerry Organ missed 5 of 6 field goal attempts, but converted both touchdowns. Toronto quarterback Joe Theismann threw touchdown passes to Mike Eben and Eric Allen, but completed just 12 of 27 passes for 170 yards and gave up 5 interceptions.

Jim Lindsey completed 2 touchdown passes to Herm Harrison and handed off to Jesse Mims for a 49-yard touchdown run as the Stampeders defeated the Lions before 17,190 fans at McMahon Stadium. Jerry Keeling relieved Mr. Lindsey at quarterback in the 4th quarter and threw a touchdown pass to Rudy Linterman.
