Dave Hoppmann scored the other Montreal touchdown, and Gino Berretta added 3 converts and 2 field goals, with Ferd Burket punting for a single. Dick Shatto scored 2 touchdowns for the Argonauts, while Jackie Parker, who shared quarterbacking duties with Sandy Stephens and Don Fuell, scored the other Toronto TD. The Argonauts trailed 27-20 with 3 minutes left in the game when Mr. Fuell rushed 22 yards to the Montreal 2-yard line. He fumbled on the next play, and Montreal linebacker Jim Reynolds returned the ball to the 55-yard line. The Alouettes then recovered their own fumble, Mr. Bertretta recovered his own punt, and Mr. Dixon scored his third touchdown to put the game away with 6 seconds remaining. Mr. Stephens, who had been released by the Alouettes early in the season,
started at quarterback for the Argonauts, but was pulled from the came because Toronto head coach Nobby Wirkowski didn't want him to face further booing from the Montreal fans. Montreal quarterback Warren Rabb completed just 1 of 13 passes, prompting Mr. Wirkowski to comment, "He isn't even a quarterback. I mean it...With any luck we could have won this one." Toronto fullback Ron Hatcher was injured in the 3rd quarter and was taken off on a stretcher.
