The Tiger-Cats rallied from a 15-3 halftime deficit and narrowly managed to preserve a tie against the Alouettes before 26,411 fans at Civic Stadium. George Dixon, Sandy Stephens, and Bobby Lee Thompson scored Montreal touchdowns. Tommy Grant scored Hamilton's first touchdown when he returned the 2nd half kickoff 104 yards. Hal Patterson and Garney Henley scored Tiger-Cat touchdowns later in the 3rd quarter, and Hamilton led 25-22. Bobby-Jack Oliver's 13-yard field goal at 1:04 of the 4th quarter tied the game, and it seemed that the game would end that way, but with 22 seconds remaining, Montreal's Ed Nickla intercepted a Frank Cosentino pass on the Hamilton 35-yard line and returned it to the 19. Former Hamilton punter Cam Fraser, recently acquired by Montreal, punted into the end zone in an attempt to win the game with a single point on the last play. Ron Howell caught the ball and kicked it back out. The Tiger-Cats were penalized for no yards when Mr. Fraser caught the ball, and the Alouettes were given another play. Mr. Fraser punted into the Hamilton end zone again; Mr. Howell punted the ball back to the Hamilton 42-yard line, and the Alouettes were unable to punt it back.
Hal Ledyard threw touchdown passes to Bob Deegan and Henry Janzen, and Gord Rowland returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown as the Blue Bombers scored 21 points in the 4th quarter to beat the Roughriders before 16,663 fans at Taylor Field in Regina. Saskatchewan's touchdown came on an 85-yard pass from Bob Ptacek to Bill Gray. The Winnipeg defense restricted Saskatchewan to 2 yards rushing. Among the Winnipeg defenders was end Bill Whisler, playing his first CFL game.
Earl Lunsford rushed 22 times for 103 yards and 5 touchdowns, and Eagle Day completed 24 of 32 passes for 355 yards as the Stampeders routed the Eskimos at McMahon Stadium. Pete Manning caught 10 of Mr. Day's passes for 118 yards, and Ed Buchanan took one of Mr. Day's passes and went 56 yards for a touchdown. Mr. Day also rushed for a touchdown. Edmonton quarterback Don Getty completed touchdown passes of 32 yards to Jim Letcavits and 59 yards to Tommy-Joe Coffey. Jackie Parker started at halfback for the Eskimos but broke his collarbone early in the game while attempting to catch a pass, and missed the rest of the game and the next 5 games after that. More than any other game, this defeat finished the Eskimos as a great team for the rest of the decade.
